Dear St. Luke’s School Alumni,
It’s that time of year again. The hottest days of summer are behind us and the beautiful weather of early fall in New England has begun. More importantly, students have returned to the Hilltop to begin classes for the upcoming school year. As someone lucky enough to have been a “lifer” at St. Luke’s, I remember the start of each of those eight years vividly; the excitement about new opportunities, the chance to reconnect with friends, and yes, a bit of trepidation about the challenges that lay ahead.
The School has changed in many positive ways since we graduated, but at its core, St. Luke’s remains our school. St. Luke’s challenged us in the same way it challenges today’s students, when they enter beneath the motto, “Enter To Learn; Go Forth To Serve”. The St. Luke’s Alumni Association Board was formalized in 2012 to help preserve the School’s history, to act as the voice of the alumni body within the St. Luke’s community, and to serve as the conduit for today’s students to access the resources and experiences of the alumni community.
The Alumni Association has made substantial strides in recent years to recognize and celebrate alumni achievements, most notably through the launch of the Athletic Hall of Fame and Alumni Artistic Achievement Awards. We strive not only to celebrate our alumni, but also to serve as a resource for you. The Office of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Board began piloting a student/alumni mentoring program which connects students and young alumni to share collegiate and professional advice. Finally, we are proud to share that St. Luke's alumni contributions have increased substantially over the past two years. Your generous donations continue to have a direct impact on the daily lives of current students.
As we look forward, we strive to build on this success by broadening our connections within the alumni body. As the alumni community, it falls to us, in part, to help ensure that the community does not lose the core elements of what it meant to be part of the St. Luke’s family, while contributing what we can to the School’s continued growth
The St. Luke’s crest contains three simple words; “Respice, Adspice, Prospice” which loosely translates to “Examine the Past, Examine the Present, and Examine the Future.” We the Alumni, represent both St. Lukes' past and present, and we have an integral role in helping to build the School’s, our School’s, future.
On behalf of the Alumni Association Board, it is our privilege to represent the alumni body. Please do not hesitate to
reach out to me, or
any other member of the Board, with questions or comments about the School, or how you can become more involved. We look forward to working with each of you to ensure St. Luke’s alumni play an integral, vibrant, and enduring role in the SLS community today and tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Dj
