CFL Lunch & Lead Presents Podcaster Mike Duncan

VGP
During last week’s Center for Leadership’s Lunch & Lead, Mike Duncan shared stories about his journey from fishmonger to professional podcaster. For years, Duncan’s hobby was studying Roman history but after a fruitless search for a podcast on the subject, everything changed. This discovery led to a part-time program which evolved into a full-time career as a podcaster and expert author. Duncan shared, “There are three key components to success: natural talent, hard work and flat out luck. My lucky break was that a Roman history podcast didn’t exist.” His passion for the topic and a lot of hard work resulted in his The History of Rome and Revolutions podcasts (with 75-80 thousand downloads per week) and a book deal. He added, “I work at least 40 hours on a 30-minute podcast. A successful podcast requires a lot of effort and needs to be rooted in something you’re passionate about. Otherwise it will fail.”

Mike Duncan’s visit was part of the World Language Week activities.
