St. Luke’s Theatre Wins Halo Awards

VGP
Update: The Seven Angels Theatre recently announced St. Luke's was awarded a third Halo Award. Grace Cashman '17 won Best Leading Actress in a Contemporary Play for her performance as Mama in Distracted.

From Director of Theatre Arts Jason Peck:

St. Luke’s left the May 31st Halo Awards with two prestigious wins: Nick Jodka '16 won Best Leading Actor Performance for an Actor in a Contemporary Musical for his performance as Princeton in Avenue Q. St. Luke’s production of Lisa Loomer’s Distracted was honored with the top award of the evening: Best Contemporary Play.

Eighteen St. Luke’s students and four faculty members traveled to the majestic Palace Theatre in Waterbury for the 13th Annual Halo Awards hosted by the Seven Angels Theatre. The Halo Awards is the premiere award ceremony for Connecticut high school theatre. The ceremony is set up Tony Awards style with a red carpet, presenters, and performances (including St. Luke’s singing For Now from Avenue Q).

Fourteen Halo judges (some of the best and brightest names in the state’s professional theatre) attended close to two hundred performances at about seventy public and independent schools throughout Connecticut. This is the first year St. Luke’s is participating in these awards and we were nominated for eighteen awards and won two.

We are incredibly proud of all in our students who participated in this ceremony and in our award-winning theatre program.
