St. Luke’s Kiva.Org Team Raises $5,050 For People In Need

From 5th Grade Teacher, Ty Weiland:

The class of 2023 was introduced to service learning this year through our year-long Kiva.org project. The students worked hard to collect funds which were loaned to people throughout the world who need a hand up. The 5th grade students researched and chose a variety of recipients in multiple countries and across sectors.

With thanks to the St. Luke’s community, this year our students collected almost 3,400 BoxTops ($340), participated in the Holiday Boutique and held bake sales. Through all their efforts, the 5th grade students raised almost $1,500 to distribute in Kiva.org loans.

In the two years since we started, the St. Luke's School team—the fifth grade, some St. Luke’s advisory groups, and other members of the SLS community—has given 96 loans totaling $5,050. If interested, you are welcome to join the St. Luke's School Kiva.org team.
