Celebrating International Day of Peace Through Art

On September 21, fifth grade students celebrated the United Nations International Day of Peace through an art project. They first learned about the United Nations and its ceremony celebrating Wednesday’s Day of Peace. During lunch, enthusiastic fifth graders invited Middle School students to write down a change they would like to see happen in the world to help make it a better place. The fifth grade students then displayed the comments (written on fabric strips) in the Fireplace Commons. They decided to arrange the fabric strips in the midst of already posted comments by the faculty answering the question: “What is Art?”
