Weekend Round-up From The Hilltop

Dan Clarke
It was a great weekend for most of our Varsity Athletic teams with Girls Soccer winning 3-2 against FAA rivals Greens Farms Academy on Friday evening before wins for Volleyball and Boys Soccer on Saturday afternoon.

GVS stormed into a 3-0 lead before half-time with goals from Kelly McKenna ‘17, Seena Panagiotidis ‘17 and Caitlyn Conetta ‘17. Despite two late goals from GFA the Storm held on for an important win to improve to 2-2-1.

Girls Volleyball continued their impressive start to the season with a comfortable victory over Canterbury School 3-0 for a 3-2 overall record.

Boys Soccer also had a convincing 4-0 win over The Hoosac School. Goals from Jared Soltys ‘17, Chase Zammit ‘18 and two from Chris Besgen ‘18 improved the Storm’s record to 2-2.

The Storm field Hockey team traveled to Westover school and picked up another win in a close game 1-0 to take them to 3-3 in league play. The only goal of the game came in the second half from Hannah Haden ‘18.

The only disappointment this weekend came with Football’s tough loss to Hamden Hall on Friday evening. With injuries to some key players the Storm struggled again offensively but will be hoping to turn things around against Westminster School on Saturday.
