220 SLS French Students and Faculty Attend Concert with musician Brice Kapel

A. Berry/VGP
From MS World Language Department Chair Amber Berry:

In honor of National French Week, all St. Luke's French students grades 6-12 went on a field trip on
November 16 to an interactive musical concert featuring Togolese-French musician Brice KapelThe event drew nearly 1,000 French students and teachers from across the state of Connecticut (and 220 from St. Luke's alone). In classes, teachers prepped students by playing the songs and music videos, teaching the lyrics in French, and providing the meaning in English. The energy during the concert was palpable as students recognized their favorites and got the opportunity to meet the star of the show.

This concert was organized by the American Association of Teachers of French-CT Chapter, which is led by one of our own, President Jon Shee. Other in-house AATF-CT board members, Evan Downey (treasurer) and myself (Director of the National French Contest), helped tremendously with both the execution of the concert and the organization of the French students and chaperones who attended the concert from our school. Under Shee's leadership, the AATF-CT provides extraordinary opportunities for French students and French teachers, which have grown in participation and enthusiasm every year since he took on the leadership.
