8th Grader Wins Geographic Bee 4th Consecutive Year

V. Parker
On February 3, the Seldin Performing Arts Center was abuzz as middle schoolers competed in the St. Luke’s National Geographic Bee. Eighteen students participated in a qualifying round but only three advanced: Zion Profit '22, Justin Higgins '23 and Jackson Hart '21. After several round of geographic questions, it was down to Jackson and Justin but in the end, Jackson remained St. Luke's MS Geographic Bee champ. Justin came in 2nd place and Zion in 3rd.

Jackson’s passion for geography has led him to win the MS bee an impressive four years in a row. After passing an online test, he now advances to the statewide competition on March 31. The winner from each state will compete at the National Championship in Washington, D.C. later in mid-May. MS History Chair Chris Phelps ran the School’s Geographic Bee this year and shared, "I was really proud of our contestants geographic knowledge. It was also great seeing many of their classmates there in support."
