Congratulations to the six 7th graders for winning Artwork of the Week!
Katie Stute for her very lifelike drawing of the model who posed for the class during the figure drawing lessons.
James Aselta for a startling close-up look at an eye!
Thomas Arnold for his carefully put together tractor shed and silo.
Chris Wearing for his 4 little chracters made of 20 wooden spools, 4 wooden spheres, 4 pieces of wire, and some Sharpie marks. Quite the little crew, don’t you think?
Jules Altamore for her semicolon wood sculpture - and if you ask her why she decided to make this piece, you’re going to get a mini-lesson in punctuation. She’ll remind you that a punctuation mark signals a pause within a sentence…a pause more distinct than that indicated with a comma, connecting two things together. It’s usually a fleeting moment. But wood seems so solid…a little ironic, no?
Johnny Cannon's wood sculpture--a piece that really should fall over. You should have seen all the different strategies he had to come up with to be able to nail the wood together at all those different angles. Doesn’t it look almost like a person, about to fall down the stairs?
