St. Luke’s Sends 19 to Model UN at Cornell

St. Luke’s large Model UN Team spent three days drafting, editing, debating and voting on important issues at Cornell University.

Last Thursday, 19 members of the St. Luke’s Model United Nations trip traveled to Cornell University to compete in a 3-day tournament. St. Luke’s students worked with 30 other schools to draft, edit, caucus, debate, and vote on important issues ranging from access to women’s health care in Central Asia to the Yemeni Civil War.

Despite packed days, participants were able to explore the campus, attend the delegate dance, and celebrate a few team members’ birthdays. Model UN’s next tournament is hosted by the Lebanese American University, May 11-12 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City.
 
Students who participated in the Cornell Model UN included Mary Grace Thomas (Co-President), Laura Mercedes, Ruth Mercedes, Michael Thompson, Harper Boege, Alex Hazlin, Archer Goodwyn, Ellie Haljun, Aiden Gunn, Jack Laibe, Cameron Hill, Lucas Manocherian, Sierra Taylor, Sarah Bryant, Brody Menzies, Anna Camp, Kendall Boege, Danielle Nares,and Aisha Memon.
