The St. Luke’s Varsity Golf team continued its unbeat start to the season with a comfortable victory over Rye Country Day School on Thursday, April 26.
The 8.5-0.5 win at The Country Club of New Canaan sees the team improve to 3-0 overall after two victories against Greens Farms Academy earlier in the campaign.
The Storm was led by Jack Maguire ‘19 who shot a four-over par 39 in some very tough conditions. Mark Gertsen ‘19, Jack Fitzgibbon ‘21, Ben Loomis ‘21, Blake Haden ‘21 and Matt Laguzza ‘19 rounded out yesterday’s squad and all chipped in for the win.
Maguire, who finished as medalist for the third straight match, said: “It was really tough out there today but everyone kept fighting even though we were not scoring as well as we have been. There is a real determination within this group to win golf matches and the guys proved that again today.”
