St. Luke’s Junior Remembers Her Friend During Suicide Prevention Week

V. Parker
St. Luke’s Phoebe Kurth ‘20 lost a friend to suicide last year and wrote a powerful blog posted on Monday to mark National Suicide Prevention Week. Head of Upper School Liz Perry shared, “Suicide is a leading cause of death in young people ages 10-24, and the numbers are dramatically on the rise. Phoebe has committed herself to be a positive force for education in this critical area. I am grateful to her for reminding us this is something we need to learn more about, even though it’s hard to think about.”

Read Phoebe’s We Need to Talk About This blog posted on the LiveGirl website. Phoebe has been volunteering as a mentor to middle school girls at LiveGirl since her freshman year.  Phoebe said, “Every time I volunteer with LiveGirl, I leave feeling inspired and ready to change the world.”
