Three St. Luke’s Girls Basketball Players Named NEPSAC All-Stars

Sydney Lowrey '17, Maya Klein '18, and McKenna Frank '18, were named to the all-star team and have been invited to play in the annual all-star game to be held at the Noble and Greenough School on Saturday, March 5 at 11:00am.
The New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) announced their girls basketball all-star selections for the 2015-16 season on Monday.  St. Luke’s players, Sydney Lowery '17 , Maya Klein '18, and McKenna Frank '18, were named to the all-star team and have been invited to play in the annual all-star game to be held at the Noble and Greenough School on Saturday March 5 at 11:00am.  St. Luke’s was one of only two Class C schools to have three players designated as all-stars.

This is Sydney Lowery’s fourth selection to the all-star team.  Lowery surpassed the 1,000 point barrier last season and continues to lead St. Luke’s in scoring and rebounding.  She is a team leader and plays with outstanding energy on both ends of the floor.
Maya Klein is a repeat all-star selection.  Her game has improved dramatically since last season and she had added production on both ends of the floor.  Still the Storm’s best three point shooter, Maya has shown an ability to get to the basket and play in the mid-range as well this season.
Newcomer McKenna Frank has played point guard for much of the season and shown a quiet steadiness that has guided the Storm through a successful regular season campaign.  She has demonstrated the ability to both hit the outside shot and get to the rim and free throw line.  McKenna leads the team in assists and is an excellent distributor of the basketball.
“All three of these players have performed at a consistently high level all season,” according to their coach, Joe Heinzmann.  “These three girls have led the team, included all of their teammates, and improved their overall games throughout the season.  They are a pleasure to coach and valued by their teammates.”

St. Luke’s finished the regular season with a record of 18-2 and was undefeated (9-0) in Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) play, winning its first league championship in nine years.  They hope to continue their success in tournament play on Wednesday, February 24th, at home in the FAA semifinals and the Wednesday after in the NEPSAC Class C tournament.
