From Debate Coach Marina Perkins:

The St. Luke's Debate Team participated in a DANEIS tournament at the Hotchkiss School on Sunday, November 5. Lily Tencic '20, Amelie Warneryd '20, Ruth Mercedes '20, and Laura Mercedes 2'0 competed in the novice division, while Andres Falcon '19, Hunter Conetta '19, Chloe Kekedjian '18 and Bilal Memon '18 competed in the advanced division. The tournament consisted of three rounds of parliamentary debate.

The day was a huge success for St. Luke's. Chloe and Bilal, our team captains, placed first in the advanced division, and Chloe was awarded the second place prize for individual speaker. Bilal not only won the first place prize for individual speaker, but also qualified for the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships, an extremely impressive feat. The World Championship will take place in Cape Town, South Africa this spring.
