WISE Club Welcomes Chemical Engineer Dr. Sahin

On Thursday, November 30, the WISE (Women in STEM Education) club met with Dr. Asli Sahin, a chemical engineer (and the spouse of St. Luke's teacher Dr. Warner). Dr. Sahin spoke to the club about a variety of topics ranging from how she chose her major in college to her current work as an integration engineer on semiconductors at Globalfoundries in Yorktown Heights, NY. There was also the opportunity to ask questions about her experiences as an international student from Turkey and as a woman in a male-dominated field.
The WISE club appreciated her insights into the world of engineering and are grateful she took the time to meet with us. We look forward to continuing our discussions with women in the sciences as our next speaker, Dr. Lauren Ernberg, visits St. Luke’s in February.
