1996

Maggie the dog, a visitor to campus and classrooms for 15 years, passes away.
"And we like to think that as she drifted on, she thought happily of St. Luke's, of kids and classrooms and woodland creatures, and thought in her own way what a wonderful life it had been, to have been a school dog of St. Luke's."
- Tim Cantrick

St. Luke's School publicly launched Campaign 2000 in Spring 1996. Dick Whitcomb wrote, "The future holds many challenges for St. Luke's. I believe that 'challenge' is simply another word for 'opportunity'." The Captial Campaign is a unique opportunity to ensure the future of St. Luke's and to ensure that its mission is fulfilled. St. Luke's must have the resources to enable it to grow academically, to give each student the care and challenge he or she needs to succeed."

"In a breathtakingly easy way, Dick took on the mantle of leader, teacher, and friend to every student, each teacher, and every family who ever entrusted a son or daughter to the intellectual, moral, and social care of St. Luke's."
