Dan Lyons
Eighteen St. Luke’s varsity athletes were honored by the athletic department on Wednesday at the Upper School Awards Day Ceremony.

The department gave out five awards and acknowledged the sixteen students who received Athlete of the Month honors this season.

Janay Parrott ’13 and Charlie Nelson ’13 received the Peter Stratton Memorial Award, which is given to seniors who display “outstanding humanitarianism, team spirit, companionship, and sportsmanship.”

Lindsay Bralower ’13 and Christian Walsh ’13 received the Herbert Upson Memorial Award, given to senior class members who “best display the qualities of sportsmanship, dedication, achieving to one’s highest capability, and the intense desire to succeed.”

Bralower also earned the FAA Scholar Athlete Award, which recognizes a student from an FAA school who displays  excellence in both athletics and academics.  This prestigious award has stringent requirements, including a 91% grade point average and top 10% placement in the student’s class, as well as a three AP course minimum, and required participation in one junior and two senior year varsity-level sports along with FAA All-League distinction.

Caroline Parsons ’13 and Robert Morris ’13 were awarded Outstanding Senior Male and Female Athlete, which recognizes “the graduating boy and girl whose contributions to St. Luke’s athletic teams stand out among their peers” as well as leadership, character, and athletic ability.

Parsons and Bralower received the ceremony’s final athletic award – the Athletes of Distinction, given to those who receive twelve or more points for St. Luke’s varsity athletics, with one point being given for each varsity team that an SLS athlete competes on.
