24th Annual Sonnets and Sweets
S.A.
The Advanced Shakespeare Seminar's 24th Annual Sonnets and Sweets event was held at Upper School English Teacher Susan Doran’s house on Wednesday, Jan. 11. In front of a roaring fireplace, students recited individual sonnets and were treated to homemade cheesecakes and other delightful desserts. Special guest Dr. Mary Halpin Carter was on hand to view the sonnet performances and support the seniors. This event is the culmination of semester-long work in Hamlet, Othello, and King Lear which, in concert with Macbeth, represent Shakespeare’s four major tragedies.
