Middle School Field Day Fun and More
Games played outside, ice cream sundaes enjoyed on the lawn, awards presented, and talents shared...it was a great day for St. Luke’s Middle School.
On Friday, May 25, Middle School students put on their red, blue, green, and gold team t-shirts for some friendly competition during the annual Field Day. Water balloon tosses, three-legged races, and tug-of-war were all part of the fun in the sun as St. Luke’s Middle Schoolers enjoyed their team-building activities. The next treat of the day was dessert before lunch. The Middle School Student Council, in partnership with the Parents’ Association and FLIK Dining Services, arranged for a make-your-own-sundae bar. MS Council Advisor Sarah Westerberg said, “It was a great end to the field day games. Oreos, sprinkles, hot fudge, strawberries, and whipped cream, all that and more were spread across tables on the lawn and enjoyed by all.”
The second half of the day was held inside the Seldin Performing Arts Center. Head of School Gareth Fancher led the Middle School Awards Ceremony which was followed by the student-led MS Talent Show. The MCs of the event were MS Student Council members and the talents included dancing, singing, playing musical instruments, and performing magic tricks.
The day concluded with a special surprise to celebrate Fancher’s many years as St. Luke’s Head of the Middle School (next year he’ll have a new role on the Hilltop). Faculty and students serenaded him with a song to the tune of "Sweet Caroline," written by MS English Chair Kirstie Tobler. The exciting day finally concluded when MS Student Council President Zion Profit announced the winning Field Day team: Gold.
