SLS vs. RCDS

Playing its third match in as many days after back-to-back 7-0 wins, the St. Luke’s Boys’ Varsity Tennis Team played on the fast indoor courts at Rye on Wednesday night and lost 6-1, the lone win coming from the #3 singles player Roy Skinner.

Co-captains Chester Murray and Alex Magill, who both came into the match undefeated in league play, lost for the first time this season. Murray, at #1 singles, lost to Stephen Vogl, who won the FAA singles title last weekend, 6-1, 6-0, while Magill lost to Gregg Cohenca, a finalist in the FAA doubles bracket, 6-0, 6-3. Freshmen Roy Skinner kept his undefeated streak alive at 6-0 with a three-set victory over Jordan Kemp, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. St. Luke’s Joe Sciarrino, playing #4 singles, lost to freshman Paul Fanto 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, the #1 team of Costa Kensington and Sam Sheehy lost to Rye’s Jon Siderides and Joey Connor 6-2, 6-1. Jora Dhaliwal and Ethan Pearce, playing #2 doubles, lost 6-1, 6-0 to Ryan Blatt and Dylan Haber, and Zack Lupica and Malcolm Burnley, playing #3 doubles, lost to Alex Breinin and Brenton Howland, also by the score of 6-0, 6-1.
