St. Luke's Defeats Greens Farms with a Strong Team Effort
Evan Downey
Dominating midfield play, rock-solid defense and excellent passing allowed St. Luke's Boys JV Soccer to defeat Greens Farms Academy at home Tuesday afternoon. Tied 0-0, until late into the second half, the game was in doubt until Josh Mitchell marked the first goal of the afternoon in the 50th minute. This was followed up by a rocket from Luke Martocchio just a few minutes later to provide the final margin. Despite the close score, St. Luke's dominated the ball all game, allowing only two shots on goal and creating numerous scoring opportunities on the offensive end. Alistair Bates, Jamie Rich, Ian Anderson, Ross Kennedy and Luke Martocchio played a particularly strong match for the Storm. St. Luke's returns to action Thursday afternoon in Greenwich at Brunsick's Maher Ave. location.
