Scott Hobbs has been CEO of Hobbs, Incorporated since 1998. Hobbs is a third generation family business based in New Canaan and focuses on managing high-end custom building in Fairfield County, Westchester County, the Hamptons, and New York City. The firm has won many awards over the years, including Custom Home Magazine’s Builder of the Year and numerous Connecticut Home Builder and Remodeler Association quality awards. Hobbs’ dedication to safety has consistently been recognized with over a dozen awards by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and Association of General Contractors safety awards and by the national safety award from the National Association of Home Builders.
Scott was raised in New Canaan, where he attended the public schools and then Duke University on an Army ROTC scholarship. He served as an armor officer in the US Army for three years before returning to New Canaan to work with Hobbs. He worked in all of the positions at the company while also earning an MBA from Columbia University.
Scott is an active member of the New Canaan community. He has served on various town boards to include the first three iterations of the Town Hall renovation committees (not the current one), the senior housing commission, and the affordable housing commission on which he was the liaison with the contractor for the recent project on Millport. Scott is an active member of St. Mark’s and serves on its building and grounds committee. In addition, Scott and his wife, Lisa, have supported various local charities over the years including The United Way, The New Canaan Community Foundation, Waveny Care Center and The Carver Center.
Scott and Lisa currently reside in New Canaan with their three children, Jack ’17, Charlie ’17 and Ellie. Lisa has been involved in many roles at St. Luke’s, including most recently being a maternity substitute. Scott’s other interests include his active participation in the Rotary Club and golfing as time permits.
