Jon Murphy '53 - Baseball, football, basketball

Jon Murphy '53 was one of four Murphy boys to attend St. Luke's School, and compiled a perfect attendance record over 12 years. Upon entering the Upper School, Jon immediately became a four year star on the baseball team, doing damage both at the plate as a strong hitter, and on the mound as the number one starting pitcher. Beginning his sophomore year, Jon began excelling on the gridiron as the varsity football team’s running back, and on the court as the varsity basketball team’s sparkplug shooting guard. Jon was an extremely will-liked and respected member of the student body, serving his fellow students as a member of Student Council for four years, including as chairman his senior year, was the business manager for the Caduceus, and captain of the maroons intramural squad during the years inter-scholastic competition was limited.
