Putting Peace First: Author Visits With 6th Grade Students

From Middle School Librarian Jean Myles:

This week St. Luke’s 6th grade welcomed Eric Dawson, CEO of Peace First and author of Putting Peace First: 7 Commitments to Change the World. He spoke with the 6th graders about practical and effective ways young people can help achieve peace—whether it's through their daily lives at St. Luke’s or on a global scale.

Dawson asked the 6th graders in what ways they have helped those around them and was impressed with what they have accomplished so far. Dawson then brainstormed with them about how they can use their potential, creativity, and effort to identify and solve injustices.

Before leaving, Dawson signed a copy of his book and donated it to the St. Luke's library.

Thanks to St. Luke’s Center for Leadership, its director Kate Parker-Burgard and former St. Luke’s parent Emily Tow Jackson for helping to bring Dawson for this inspiring event.
