St. Luke’s Golf Alumni Excel in Summer Tournaments
Dan Lyons
A couple of St. Luke’s recent golf alumni have incredible success on the links so far this summer.
Cameron Wilson ’10, who currently plays at Stanford University, took home his second straight Ike Championship and his fifth overall MGA victory at New Rochelle’s Wykagyl Country Club on June 25. Wilson matched his own competitive course record with a seven-under 65 during his second round, and his total score of 203 matched current PGA player Johnson Wagner for lowest total in Ike Championship history.
Wilson was assisted by Tommy McDonagh ’07, another former Ike winner, on the bag during the last two days of the tournament.
Recent SLS graduate Jacob Henny ’13 has recently qualified for the US Junior Amateur Championship, which takes place at Martis Camp Club in Truckee, CA from July 22-27. Henny finished third at the qualifier at Springdale Country Club in Princeton, NJ, and has advanced to the stroke play portion of the amateur tournament. From there, the top 64 players advance to the match play finals.
More information on the US Junior Amateur Championship is available on the USGA website.
