September Athletes of the Month

Dan Lyons
Kai Burton ’14 and Robert Wood ’14 have been selected by the St. Luke’s Athletics as September 2013′s Athletes of the Month.
Kai Burton is one of Varsity Field Hockey’s captains and top playmakers in the midfield, and has helped lead the team to a strong start in coach Taylor Hedges’ first season. Kai was integral in St. Luke’s first victory, scoring a goal on a lifted shot in a 2-0 win over Holy Child on September 23. She also scored the team’s lone goal against a strong GFA team on September 11. Kai’s play in the midfield also stood out in a 0-0 tie against Hopkins on September 28.

Robert Wood has been a standout on the gridiron all season for St. Luke’s football. Wood was one of the best players on the field in St. Luke’s September 7 win over Cardinal Spellman, when he recorded both a tackle-for-loss and a sack to effectively end the Pilots’ chance for a comeback on their final drive.

Field Hockey and Football are both active this Saturday during St. Luke’s homecoming. Field Hockey hosts Cheshire Academy at 1:30, while Football takes on Rye Country Day at 3:00.
