Tech-Rollout: Training, Technology and eTextbooks

V. Parker
During the opening days of School, St. Luke’s Tech Department was busy deploying electronic devices and helping student install their ebooks. Ninth graders each received a new MacBook Air laptop and iPad Air (10th-12th graders continue to use ones given last year). New Upper School students received their devices before school started. Eighth graders got their own MacBook laptop and Fifth, sixth and seventh grade students each received a Chromebook.

Training sessions had students reviewing their device’s hardware and software as well as how to navigate the MySLS portal which includes their schedules and much more. Academic Technology Matt Bavone said, “We’re offering many rich e-platforms that offer not only a traditional book but also interactive and immersive lessons replete with videos, interactive diagrams and activities as well as links to ancillary information such as primary sources for history classes.” Bavone added, “With the approximate 450 devices distributed in the past couple weeks, it exciting to know all the information now available to our students.”
