St. Luke's Tops Millbrook in Season Opener

Evan Downey
After a slow start, St. Luke's Boys Varisty Basketball defeated the Millbrook Mustangs 78-49 at the Zero Gravity Prep Classic in Providence, RI on Friday night.  The Mustangs opened the game on a 12-5 run, but the Storm managed to right the ship and take the lead for good after a 13-4 run midway through the first half.  St. Luke's held a slim 29-24 at halftime and the second half was as a back and forth battle for the first few minutes before a barrage of threes from Jonas Harper, Jackson Ryan, Andrew Varoli, Cole Bryant, and Jackson Selvala broke the game wide open.  Senior captains Harper and Ryan paced the Storm with 22 points each.  Selvala joined them in double figures with 12, while Varoli and Cole Bryant added added 9, and Jah'khi Washington and John Wisdom each added 2 points.  St. Luke's returns to the hardwood on Saturday for a 6pm tilt against back-to-back Class B champions Brooks School.  Tip is at 6pm.
