St. Luke's Tops Hopkins to Move to 7-1 in FAA Play

Evan Downey
St. Luke's Boys Varsity Basketball topped FAA rival Hopkins 76-43 on Thursday afternoon to move to 7-1 in FAA play.  St. Luke's got strong contributions from its bench as two starters were out with illness.  The game was back-and-forth for the opening few minutes before St. Luke's clamped down on the defensive end and coasted to a 40-17 halftime lead.  Reserves played the bulk of second-half minutes for St. Luke's and executed nicely on both ends.  Jonas Harper led four Storm players in double figures with 24 points.  Jah'khi Washington and Cole Bryant each scored 12, while Scott Vollmer added 10.  Kenny Soares scored a season high 8 points for St. Luke's, Nick Brown added 4, and John Wisdom added 3 free-throws.  St. Luke's returns to the hardwood on Saturday afternoon at Hamden Hall.  The Storm will look to put themselves back in the driver's seat after they suffered their first FAA loss since 2015 to Hamden Hall last week.  Both teams have one loss in conference play and a Storm win would bring them into a tie for first place.  Tip is at 2pm.
