Week of April 2-8

Boys Lacrosse

The Boys Varsity Lacrosse team suffered a tough loss to Hopkins School in a cold and windy season opener on Wednesday, April 4.  Despite hard work by St. Luke’s, and nearly even possession time, the Hilltoppers defeated the Storm, 3-13. Goals were scored by Thomas Besgen ‘20,  Brenden Whiteley ‘18 and Christopher Besgen ‘18.

Next up: The Storm hosts Wooster School on Monday, April 9.


Girls Lacrosse

After shaking off some first-game jitters the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, under new head coach Caitlin Copelan, played very tough throughout but eventually lost 10-13 to Hopkins School.
The action was dominated by strong defensive lines on both teams. Quinn Gregorich had a solid game in goal for the Storm while goals were scored by Olivia Schwartz (5), Grace Kuehner (2), Katie Barton (1), Katie Libman (1) and Ryan Weil (1).

Next up: The Storm travel to The Harvey School on Monday, April 9


Softball

SLS Softball had its home opener against The Gunnery on Saturday, April 7.  Despite missing some starters St. Luke’s was able to defeat Gunnery 12-2 in five innings.

Kristen Beaumonte was clutch at the plate with runners on base driving in six on two hits. Beaumonte drove in runs on a single in the third and a home run in the fifth.

The Storm tallied ten hits in the game as Rebecca Taylor, Courteney Newman, and Beaumonte each managed multiple hits.  Taylor led with three hits in three at-bats.

St. Luke's tallied two home runs on the day. Beaumonte had a three-run long ball in the fifth inning. Riley Page hit it out in the first inning with two on.

Emma Cropper was credited with the victory for the Storm. She surrendered two runs on two hits over five innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Next up: St. Luke’s hosts Cheshire Academy on Tuesday, April 10 at 4:45pm. The Storm then take on The Harvey School on Saturday, April 14 at home at 3:30pm.
