St. Luke's Softball Completes Perfect Season

Dan Clarke
The St. Luke’s Varsity Softball team completed a remarkable season by winning the FAA tournament on Friday, May 18 - beating Hopkins 11-2 in the championship game.

It was the team’s third FAA tournament title in four years and resulted in the Storm finishing the season with a perfect 15-0 record.

Hopkins was one of only two schools to beat St. Luke’s last season, along with Cheshire Academy, but the Storm turned the tables on the Hilltoppers with more outstanding hitting.

The St. Luke’s offense has been the team's strength all campaign and they once again proved too hot for their opponents.

Maya Klein ‘18 led the way in Friday’s final with four hits over five at-bats but it has been a total team effort with Alli Ferris ‘18, Kristen Beaumonte ‘18, Courteney Newman ‘18, Emma Cropper ‘19, Riley Page ‘19, Maddy Sead ‘19 all coming up huge at various times.

Head Coach Troy Haynie said: “I am really proud of this group of players. They work extremely hard and once they figure out a pitcher they are relentless with the bats.”

The St. Luke’s Varsity Softball team was also crowned Western New England League Champions following the win. Unfortunately, the team was unable to defend its tournament title as the event fell foul to the weather, but the teams outstanding regular season play earned them the WNEPSA crown.
