8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

V.Parker
St. Luke’s 8th grade students marked the end of their Middle School years with the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on Wednesday, June 6. Gareth Fancher presided over this special event for the last time as the School’s Head of Middle School. (Next year he will move into the position of St. Luke’s Director of Emotional Intelligence.) Several Middle School teachers, including Jane Olsen, Leo Mahler, Jay Blau, Brinley Ehlers, Frank Henson, and Chris Phelps, each shared remarks with the students. Susan Bralower presented a montage she created that looked back on the students’ Middle School years.

The 8th Grade Girls Choir sang Flashlight and the 8th Grade Boys Choir sang Thankful. Tradition continued with each 8th grader signing his or her handprint before receiving a certificate of promotion. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the Fireplace Commons and then the 8th Grade Celebration on the front lawn.
