MS Artwork of the Week: Carys Gardner '24

Haley Wulfman
Has anyone ever stopped to realize that the way a snail curls into its shell is quite similar to the way a baker rolls dough to form a croissant? Carys picked up on this simple but brilliant similarity, and devoted this entire art piece to revealing the similarities between the delicious French pastry and a "tulip" snail shell. The color, texture and value was very important to her, and she tried various strategies and materials for revealing this to us. Ultimately, Carys determined that colored pencil blending and layering offered the best opportunities for this.

Congratulations to Carys for winning Artwork of the Week!
