Back-to-Back Model UN Weekends

SLS Model United Nations (MUN) wrapped up back-to-back weekend tournaments with an impressive amount of recognition. Marco Volpitta ‘20 won an honorable mention for Best Delegate for his work on the Joint Crisis Committee, and Chris Walsh ‘20 won honorable mention for Best Delegate for his work as Mark Zuckerberg on the Facebook Board of Directors Committee.
More than 2,000 students competed in the Ivy League Model United Nations, which was hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, Jan. 30-Feb 2. Fifteen St. Luke's MUN members represented Vietnam and Saudi Arabia in downtown Philadelphia on committees ranging from Disarmament and International Security to the Economic Commission for Africa.
Seven members of our team competed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) last weekend. The MITMUN Conference is unique because it includes historical and fictional committees along with the typical United Nation committees. Students enjoyed participating in simulations of the Congress of Vienna 1814, Imperial Court of the Qing Dynasty 1840, and Wakanda from Black Panther.
SLS MUN has one more conference in May. MUN is open to all Upper School students, and it is not too late to join. Please contact Abby Abbott if you are interested in learning more about the club.
