St. Luke’s Art Gallery: The Artist Books and Collages Exhibition
Come see works by local artist Deborah Phillips Chodoff now through March 12, and join us for the opening reception on March 6.
St. Luke’s Class of 2019 Art Gallery’s latest exhibition features Katonah-based artist Deborah Phillips Chodoff. The artist’s books and related wall pieces are made with hand-printed and painted papers, inkjet prints, found objects, and art materials. According to her website, “Whether the book is a mobile, a stack of shapes or a traditional codex, the ideas unfold over time and through space...Much of the imagery in my work is of ordinary objects; the concepts distill everyday conflicts with expectations, constraints, chance, and uncontrollable situations.”

St. Luke’s Upper School Art Chair Sean Lynch shared, “Her work is beautiful. It is powerful, it is creative, it is personal, and it is relatable. It will invite you in to spend time investigating all of its elements. Her artwork has been shown nationally and internationally and is in numerous collections, including the MoMA library, libraries at Harvard, Yale, the University of Alberta, and Florida Atlantic University, the Fine Art Collection at The Center for Book Arts in NYC, and Hillary Clinton’s archive collection.”
On March 2 and 3, the artist will spend time working with St. Luke’s students in select art classes.
The Artist Books and Collages Exhibition is on display now through March 12. There is an opening reception on Friday, March 6, from 3:30-6:00pm. All are invited to attend.
