St. Luke’s School Class of 2020 Hilltop Celebration

NBT
St. Luke's found a creative way to grant the Class of 2020 its wish to graduate on the St. Luke's "Hilltop" campus. Head of School Mark Davis received permission from the town of New Canaan to invite families—in carefully timed increments that allowed for physical distancing—to drive to campus on the official May 29 graduation day. "We are still planning for a full Commencement Ceremony in early August," said Davis. “But we wanted to celebrate together on the day seniors officially graduated. We needed to see their faces and share our joy."

“Our Son Was on Cloud Nine”   “St. Luke’s Went Above & Beyond”
Head of Upper School Liz Perry said: “Seeing each family, one at a time, was really special. So many people cried! It was easy to see how much it meant to families.” New Canaan resident Kim Jodka’s son Henry is the third in her family to graduate from St. Luke’s. “Our family loved and appreciated every minute of this celebration,” said Jodka. “ Our son was on cloud nine!”

Another parent, Darien resident Jill Stute, who is also a trustee, added, “It was a beautiful setting and a wonderful way to mark the end of high school for our daughter.” Stute’s daughter Emily is the second in her family to graduate from St. Luke’s (with two more to follow in 2022). Stute referenced the hand-delivered gifts, surprises, and videos that led up to the Hilltop Celebration saying, “They did so much to make sure these seniors felt the end of this year was something special. St. Luke's went above and beyond!”
