Eighth Grade Community Service Projects
During their last week as middle schoolers, the eighth graders went forth to serve by participating in two service projects.

On Monday, the students had a choice of three service activities: make sandwiches, write cards to senior citizens, or thank frontline workers with cards or signs. The sandwiches were delivered to the Stamford-based nonprofit New Covenant Center.
As part of the Eighth Grade Hilltop Promotion Ceremony, donations for the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County were requested. Almost 90% of the families brought something, filling two carloads with 762 pounds of donated items. According to its website, “the Food Bank is one of this area’s primary hunger-relief organizations.”
The eighth graders were also encouraged to continue their service work into the summer months. Sending cards or letters to senior citizens and frontline workers were just some of the suggestions offered.
