Students’ Leadership Shines Through in Fifth Grade Talent Show

S.A.
In February, St. Luke’s fifth graders showed off their leadership skills by creating a virtual talent show, sparked by Cami Sarracino’s ‘28 goal to become a better leader. She made that goal during her Middle School Advisory — an all-school program designed to support students as they navigate their academic and social lives. During one of this year’s advisory sessions, advisors asked students to set personal goals they hoped to accomplish throughout the school year.

Determined to strengthen her leadership ability, Cami gathered her classmates Lina Elwood ‘28 and Sophie Seaver ‘28 and set off to host a student-led talent show.

They approached their teachers, Elaine Juran, Jane Olsen, Jessie Samuel, and Melissa Zurkowski, who were impressed with the students’ initiative and happy to support them. Cami, Lina, and Sophie invited their classmates to create a video that highlighted their talents.

Nine students participated and showcased various skills, from playing drums to singing to creating a digital design. You can watch the Fifth Grade Talent Show in this video created by Fifth Grade Social Studies Teacher Jane Olsen.
