Let's Play Some Squash

Daniel Clarke
St. Luke’s Squash Club Director Brian Mathias is thrilled to offer a new opportunity for Middle School students.

Starting after Spring Break, the St. Luke's Squash Club will offer middle schoolers one class per week taking place after the MS activities period. This will allow students who participate in other sports or after-school activities to stay on campus for lessons and improve their squash skills.

Mathias, who will pilot a class one day a week, is excited to welcome players of all ages and abilities to the courts: “This is a new and very convenient pathway for any student to take advantage of our state-of-the-art facility and learn a healthy, social sport, which they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. You don’t have to commit a whole season or opt out of another activity to get started. Squash is fun and challenging, from the first time you pick up a racquet. The more you play, the more you appreciate how it benefits your mental and physical well-being. That’s true whether you consider yourself an athlete or an academic, a thespian or a chess master. While I know not everyone will turn into a full blown squash addict like me, I’d like to think that everyone can benefit from the great setup we have here on campus. I want to spread the word that squash is for everyone, and it doesn’t take a massive commitment to get involved.”
