For more than two decades, St. Luke’s World Language Department has presented World Language Week, a five-day celebration with activities, music, food, and fun! This year’s theme was “history”. From April 17-21, Middle and Upper School World Language teachers ran engaging, fun activities each day during lunch for students to enjoy learning about languages and linguistic history.
For more than two decades, St. Luke’s World Language Department has presented World Language Week, a five-day celebration with activities, music, food, and fun! This year’s theme was “history”. From April 17-21, Middle and Upper School World Language teachers ran engaging, fun activities each day during lunch for students to enjoy learning about languages and linguistic history.
Activities included:
- International coffee, tea, and hot chocolate tastings with related history lessons
- Chinese character and historical figure games, and a lively history-themed Jeopardy tournament
- The newly-redesigned Francophone Jukebox designed by Middle School French teacher Cynthia Briggs’ 7th & 8th-grade students
- A live conversation with Anna Bick Rowe ‘08, an executive producer, about her Academy Award-nominated film “Strangers at the Gate”
- French, Latin, Mandarin, and Spanish musical performances from students and faculty at St. Luke’s International Coffee House
- Luca Lab, an international cuisine cooking lab featuring five hands-on food prep stations for students to prepare and eat globally-inspired dishes
- Internationally-inspired cuisines for lunch each day, created by Food Service Director Patrick Sullivan, Chef Dan, and the FLIK team (See the yummy menu options)
