Bacher Back With Two Perfect Games

Daniel Clarke
The St. Luke's varsity softball team is hitting their stride thanks in part to some outstanding pitching from Alex Bacher ’24.

Alex returned from injury to pitch two perfect games in succession and continued her excellent form to help the Storm to a 9-3 overall record for the season.

The University of North Carolina commit pitched four perfect innings against Rye Country Day School on Wednesday, May 3 in a 17-0 win for St. Luke’s. She followed that up with seven perfect innings two days later against Holy Child in a 9-0 victory. Alex struck out 17 of the 21 batters she faced.

Her teammates backed up this streak with some strong hitting, bringing in big scores this season. Margot Seiden ’24, Aurora Levesque ’24, and Aidan Panian ’23 have all been particularly strong at the plate with Margot and Aurora both hitting grand slams in recent contests.

The team put in another outstanding performance on Senior Day (or Aidan Panian Day) beating The Canterbury School 15-0 inside four innings. Aurora went yard for a grand slam, Aidan scored three runs and an RBI, Lucy Millones ’27 scored three runs and had an RBI, Teagan Minnick ’26 added two runs and an RBI, and Leah Seitz ’26 also scored two runs and had two RBI’s.

Head Coach Elizabeth Joseph has been thrilled with her team’s overall performances: “This team has really come together in the past two weeks,” she said. “Having Alex back on the mound and a line-up that can hit 1 through 9 is big! With these two forces, it’s safe to say we’d come out on top.”
