  • GV Squash: SLS v WESTOVER

In a thrilling showdown between SLS and Westover, the squash courts were alight with electrifying rallies and loud cheering from the home crowd last night - thank you JV Boys and JV girls for your support! Despite the valiant efforts of the SLS team, Westover emerged victorious with a final score of 5-2, with our captains Sofia and Maddie bringing home the victories. However, this result doesn't reflect the intensity and competitiveness of each match, with many close games and 2 matches that went to 5 and one to 4. The storm was raging, hopefully we will get to settle the score at Nationals this weekend!!
  • GV Squash: SLS v HOP

What a great afternoon of squash we had yesterday! The courts were packed with players and spectators that came to support the BV and GV teams as they faced New Canaan and Hopkins.
The girls team unfortunately lost the match, but any match that goes to 4-3 it is for sure a fun one! The teams were balanced and competetive, the sportsmenship was great and the cheering fantastic!
  • GV Squash: SLS v GFA

The GV got to face GFA again today, after meeting this team last week during the FAA Tournament and already there was such a big improvement!! #1 Gigi fought hard in a 5 game match and won, #2 Maggie also took her opponent to 5 but conceeded the match (this time!). Captain Maddie took the lead in her match and was up 1-0 but then lost in 4. The team is really showing great strength and improvement and we are getting pumped about Nationals...keep up the hard work girls, we will be in Philly before you know it!!!
  • FAA Tournament

The FAA tournament was a tough challenge for the GV team: we played 2 matches on Wednesday: the first one against HOP and the second one against GFA and we lost them both 0-7.
Once again my team showed me that what matters it's how you face something, who you are in victory and defeat, and my girls sure have grits, sportsmenship and faced their challenge chin up. On top of that they also went to cheer on the boys playing their match against HOP...what a great squad!!!
  • Rough Monday...

This match didn't go our way...but the GV sure did put up a fight! The top of our lineup, Gigi and Maggie, went to 5, Sofia and Anna battled in 4 games and Juana finally brought home a suspenceful victory in 5 after being down 2-0. Too bad the end result didn't reflect the effort the squad put in!
  • SLS v GCDS

The girl team had a terrific match today against GDCS school. Our captains both had games that went to the fifth and Juana’s to four, so the level was very close.
The storm team unfortunately had to concede the #7 position,as we only had 6 players - both Cassidy and Sarah were out sick and Lila is injured.
Despite that the Storm raged on and brought home a heart stopping 4-3 victory, supported by Anna, Maggie and Gigi’s matches and sealed by Captain Sofia in an incredible 5 game match.
    What a day!
    GO STORM!!⛈️
  • SLS v RCDS

The match didn't go our way yesterday, when we measured ourselves against very strong opponents. We lost 7-0, BUT we did win our exhibition match 3-1 thanks to a great performance by Sarah Steele - who just made her debut back to squash after an injury. Sarah's match lasted well over 45min and every game went to overtime. Way to boost the team's morale!
  • SLS v Westover

Another stellar performance from the GV squash team: the girls won 6-1 against Westover in a thrilling away match last night!
Captain Sofia secured her 3rd win in a row, cementing her undefeated status so far!
Maggie, Cassie, Anna, captain Maddie and captain Sofia all won in a hard fought 4 games match while #1 Gigi secured a 3-0 win.
    Great work team!!
  • SLS v C'BURY

  • SLS v NCHS

The Varsity Girls started the season with an exciting 4-3 win against NCHS: while Gigi (1) sailed easily to a 3-0 victory, Anna(6), Sofia (3) and Cassy(7) fought hard for a 3-1 victory. In particular, Anna conceded one game but not without a fight (lost in overtime). Cassy played a spectacular match: every rally was long and draining. She started her match with a 2-0 lead, after which her opponent came back to 2-1. The fourth game was a full on battle, but Cassy was in the zone and played her best squash yet, keeping the points long, covering the court well and playing smart. Captain Sofia brought home the victory that also sealed the match victory in another hard fought 3-1 match.

Almost everyone of the newly formed JV girls team got to play their first exhibition match and the cheering and sportsmanship was contagious! It was so great to start the season with such a big team and to see the girls supporting each other!

     🌩️GO STORM!! 🌩️
  • SLS v RHS

What a close match we had today, unfortunately it didn't go our way and we lost 4-3. The girls put up an incredible fight with 3 of the matches lost in 4 and 5 games!!
Maggie won her match and her last game with an incredible display of mental strength and stamina, coming back from 2-10, to win 12-10.
We also had a special visit from a former player: Caitlyn was back home from college and decided to surprise us all and come cheer her former teammates: what a treat!
  • SLS v SH

What a close match we had yesterday against the SH JV team!! Unfortunately it didn't go our way, but it was a great battle. Gigi dominated her match and won in 3 games, Maggie followed in her footsteps and won also in 3, Sofia had a great match but lost in 4 while Anna battled to the 5th game and lost in overtime.
The team left in high spirits and is ready for some well deserved rest before coming back strong in the new year!
    GO STORM!!
