The GV team headed off to NESPAC in the first time in 7 years, which was very exciting! Unfortunately with 1 less player - our #7 was sick, and even though we were seeded #1, we ended up losing both our matches 3-4. It just shows how strong and willing to fight the team is!
Another amazing performance from the GV team: this time against our town rival, NCHS. We had unfinished business after they beat us 4-3 at the beginning of the season: hard work pays off!
Guess who is going to the finals?! Yes, you guess it: your fave GV Squash Team!! What a battle to get through this match...we came back from a 3-1 down to win in super tight 4-3!! The team is truly showing that we are limitless: making it to the finals from being seeded 5-8 and defeating seed #2 and #3. GO STORM!!
What a weekend we had: amazing squash, friendship and sportsmanship. Too bad we didn't manage to take out the #1 seed too, but we still got a trophy and a lot of fun!! =]
What a great celebration we had yesterday for our 7 seniors: Cassie, Sarah, Anna, Sofia, Maddie, Maggie and Gigi...we will miss you ladies and a big THANK YOU to the parents for organizing such a lovely celebrations and all the other squash teams and friends that came to support us- we had a full house and felt your love! We came so close to a victory (we lost 3-4) - we were up 3-2, but then lost 2 matches in the 4th and one in the 5th...a very good fight! Now we have our eyes on Nationals next weekend...GO STORM!!
We had another tough one today, and just like on Monday, Gigi won in 4. We are looking forward to celebrating our seniors tomorrow after our match with RHS at 5pm - come cheer!!
Last night's match couldn't have been any closer...we had 2 4 game matches ad 2 matches in the 5th that went into overtime...and speaking of overtime, we have certainly set a record with Captain Sofia battling her second game 22-24!!! Keep on fighting and working hard girls!!!
Congrats to Maggie on a great 4 setter: after loosing the first game, Maggie regrouped under Coach Gigi and brought home a win for the team! Sofia and Anna had such close 4 setters too: 2 of Anna's game went to overtime. One of Gigi's games went to overtime too against a tough opponent. Keep fighting, girls!!
We had a good match against the Red RHS team: lots of good squash and close games. They won this one, but I am looking forward to the rematch later in the season: GO STORM!
What a close match for the girls varsity squash against New Canaan High School: unfortunately we didn't get the win, but hopefully we get a rematch at Nationals. The team is looking strong and I am excited for the season ahead, GO STORM!!
We had another battle yesterday, but this time we WON 4-3! It was a tough one also because our #4 was sick, so the bottom ladder had to play up: great work TEAM!!
