STEM Programs and Courses


Tinkerers, makers, and problem-solvers looking for challenging, fun courses to strengthen skills in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)—check out Summer at St. Luke's. New to coding? Try Codebug's Web Development sessions. More advanced coders can hone skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Terminal, Sublime Text, Git, GitHub and more. Both middle school and high school students can advance their computational skills in several mathematics courses. Emerging biologists/ecologists will engage in problem-solving as they explore St. Luke's beautiful nature trails and streams.  

Summer at St. Luke's is located centrally to students from Fairfield and Westchester counties. Spaces are limited.

Codebug

Web Development I: Zero to Sixty. Learn to design and build websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
July 6-10, July 13-17, July 20-24, July 27-31
Rising 5th - 8th graders.

Web Development II: Dive into JavaScript. Strengthen coding knowledge and mastery of JavaScript. Two-week camp running July 20-31. 
Rising 5th-8th graders.

Codebug: Build Your Personal Website. Learn to design and build professional websites developing core languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
Two-week course: July 6-17
Rising 9th - 12th graders.

designLab

designLab Camp offers four different workshops/courses:

How to Make Anything - explore designLab's fabrication tools while developing creative problem-solving skills. 
August 10-14
Rising 5th-12th graders. 

Live Green. Build green environments simulated by clean energy sources technologies. Tinker with solar panels, water wheels, hydroponic growth, and more to develop an understanding of how clean energy impacts the Earth.

Rising 5th-8th

Camp LiveGirl. Yummy introduction to design and engineering: expose the inner workings of a gumball machine! More fun projects allow young inventors and engineers to tinker with tools and gadgets in a safe, encouraging environment.
July 13-17
Rising 5th-8th graders. 

Virtual Reality. Discover how animation has evolved over time. Students with an interest in drawing and design will enjoy exploring physical and virtual design in three-dimensional space.

JumpStart to Algebra 2

JumpStart to Algebra 2For all St. Luke's students rising into Algebra 2 after completing a full course in Geometry. This course will serve as a review of the major concepts from Algebra 1 that students need to be successful in Algebra 2

JumpStart to Algebra 2 with Trigonometry. St. Luke's students rising into Algebra 2 with trigonometry or Algebra 2 with trigonometry honors after completing a full course in Geometry.

JumpStart to Geometry

JumpStart to Geometry. Open to all St. Luke's students who have completed Algebra 1.

JumpStart to Middle School Math

JumpStart to Middle School Math. Solidify understanding of key math concepts ahead of new school year. A deep dive into fraction, decimal, integer operations, plus basic algebra.

Science Camp: Ecology Adventures

Science Camp: Ecology Adventures. For young scientists who love asking questions about the world around them. Lots of outdoor exploration.
Two one-week sessions available: June 22-26, July 6-10.
