That’s how discovery works around here—equal parts focus, chaos, and fun you didn’t plan for.
Artistic Pathways in Upper School
Visual Arts
Refine & Reveal
You’ll draw, paint, sculpt, and design in bright, professional studios stocked with everything from potter’s wheels to DSLR cameras. Our courses explore illustration, printmaking, digital photography, ceramics, and more. Whether you’re building a portfolio or just love making things by hand, you’ll learn to express your creativity with skill and intention.
Offerings include Drawing & Painting, Ceramics, Digital Photography, Studio Art, AP Art & Design, and others that evolve with student interests.
Music
Hone Your Sound
Every musician finds their voice differently. Some through improvisation. Some through structure. Some through trial, error, and a dozen takes in Logic. At SLS, you’ll have the space—and the support—to explore all of it. Our music program blends classical foundations, contemporary tools, and collaborative performance to help you stretch your range and sharpen your instincts. What you discover along the way might surprise you.
Courses include Orchestra, Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Band, Music Theory & Composition, Music Technology, AP Music Theory, and more.
Theater
Own the Moment
Spotlight not your thing? That’s great—someone has to build it, light it, and make the magic happen. But if the spotlight is your thing, that works too. In Upper School Theater, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to act, build, design, and collaborate—learning what it really takes to bring a story to life. From wielding a hammer backstage to delivering a monologue center stage, you’ll play a real part in making it all happen—and take with you the kind of skills that last well beyond the final curtain.
Courses include Acting Studio, Theater Ensemble, Directing & Devising, Stagecraft, Theater Production, Theater Seminar, and more.
Join the Creative Community
This isn’t a school where the arts stay politely in the background. Here, they spill into the halls, crank up the volume, and refuse to be ignored.
You’ll pick up new tools, join big ideas, and work alongside people who care as much as you do. Some students have been creating for years. Others just jump in.
Everyone’s figuring it out as they go—and that’s half the fun.
