Workshop Description:

Begin developing your public speaking, argumentation, and debate skills at SLS’s Introduction to Speech & Debate Camp this summer.

Designed for rising 7th through 10th grade students with little to no experience in public speaking, this camp offers a welcoming and supportive introduction to persuasive communication. Students explore the fundamentals of rhetorical theory through interactive mini-lessons, impromptu speaking activities, and structured practice debates. Students will receive individualized feedback throughout the week that emphasizes growth and confidence building without any added pressure. The camp culminates in an end-of-camp mock tournament, giving students the opportunity to apply their new skills.

Led by SLS Debate Coach Bryce Piotrowski, a two-time National Speech and Debate Association Diamond Award recipient who has coached multiple Texas State and NSDA National Tournament champions, the camp emphasizes skill-building and support above all else. Whether students are interested in launching a competitive speech and debate career or simply strengthening essential professional skills, the Introduction to Speech & Debate Camp develops core communication abilities that are essential for tomorrow’s leaders.
